About Us

Helping communities connect and thrive

Our Forum is part of a network of similar forums that have grown up across the borough of Lambeth and which are supported by the Council.  The forum is focussed on the Clapham Park council ward (a map of the ward can be found here https://www.lambeth.gov.uk/sites/default/files/2022-03/Clapham-Park.pdf) but we often engage with residents of nearby areas on issues that affect them.

The Forum seeks to make connections between the various voluntary groups that exist in the area.  For example, we support, including financially, the Friends of Agnes Riley Gardens and the Clapham Park Over 50’s club.  We also try to ensure that local residents have an input to what is going on in the area.  So, over the years, we have organised Forum meetings to discuss proposals for a new primary and secondary schools at the Glenbrook site and for a Controlled Parking Zone in the area.  We have sought residents’ ideas to be fed into the Council ‘Our Streets’ programme.  We have provided a forum for debate on the EU referendum; helped develop an input to Lambeth’s Local Plan; and enabled scrutiny of the new Masterplan for the regeneration of the Clapham Park Estate.

Meeting about the CP Masterplan

A particularly successful Forum meeting responded to concerns about the growing level of violence amongst young people.  That meeting led to action to publicise activities in which local young people could be involved and to securing a small grant from Lambeth Council to fund additional activities in the area
